A goal to draw "a face a day" for a week produced this series of images. This is number 6 and more or less stream of consciousness in it's creation. Birds hold a special place in my heart and have been showing up in my work recently. For years I avoided them because they became such a popular image and artistic device. As the saying here in Portland goes... "Put a bird on it!"

Then, my neighbor asked me if I would donate a piece for the Portland Audubon Society Wild Arts Festival. It had to be 6" x 6" and had to have a bird theme. That little painting opened the door. The birds are here!
