"Labyrinthos" (The Labyrinth Series), is a new series of watercolor and ink paintings.
The inspiration... Life is full of twists and turns, paths to consider, crossroads beckoning us to choose, journeys to look back on... of moving forward, taking a step to the side, or sometimes turning around and trying a new direction all together. These paintings echo this dynamic dance found in the human experience.
After a 20 year break from watercolor, it feels good to have meandered back to this old familiar medium. I love watching the colors swirl in water as they mix, and observing the various ways they react with the paper. With this series, there is also a strong connection to my years of work as a graphic artist. I get happily lost in the masking process, building a structural environment which will be brought to life with color. Working with watercolor feels calming and creates a sense of peaceful serenity.
